Organised by RunCzech, whose motto is “All Runners Are Beautiful”, the Vodafone Prague Marathon is widely celebrated as one of Europe’s most visually striking and culturally immersive races. Every step carries runners through the heart of a city that feels like an open-air museum, where Gothic towers, Baroque façades and centuries-old bridges create a spectacular backdrop for an unforgettable marathon experience.
The race starts at 08:00 on Sunday, 2 May 2027 in historic Old Town Square, surrounded by Prague’s iconic Astronomical Clock and vibrant crowds. From there, the course winds across the legendary Charles Bridge, offering panoramic river views, and continues through lively neighbourhoods that blend old-world charm with modern energy, before returning to Old Town Square for the finish. With its mostly flat and runner-friendly profile, the marathon appeals both to performance-focused athletes and to those seeking a scenic, enjoyable run through one of the world’s most enchanting capitals. Runners can choose the Full Marathon or team up for the Half Marathon Relay, which starts at the same time.
What truly elevates the Prague Marathon is its atmosphere. Local bands, cheerful supporters and cultural performances line the route, giving the event a festive, welcoming feel. The city embraces runners wholeheartedly, turning race day into a vibrant celebration of Prague’s spirit of art, music and community, and of RunCzech’s belief that all runners are beautiful. Whether you’re chasing a personal milestone or simply eager to explore a storied European city on foot, the Prague Marathon promises a race experience filled with beauty, energy and inspiration.
IMPORTANT: This is an independent, self-guided travel and race experience. There will be no Explor42 representative or on-ground support team in Prague. Runners are responsible for airport transfers, local transportation, race-bib collection, race briefing, and travel to and from the event venue.
Athletes must check the official Vodafone Prague Marathon website (RunCzech), organiser emails and the final race manual for confirmed timings, compulsory requirements, start and finish locations, road closures and schedule changes.

Stay in the heart of the city at INNSiDE by Meliá Prague Old Town. This modern 4-star design hotel sits on quiet Soukenická Street in Prague 1, behind a restored historic façade. It opened in 2013 and has 89 contemporary rooms, each with a memory-foam bed and a complimentary minibar. Downstairs you’ll find a fitness centre, a lobby bar and a restaurant with a courtyard terrace. The location is ideal for marathon weekend. Old Town Square, where the race starts and finishes, is about 1 km away, roughly a 12-minute walk past the Powder Tower and along Celetná Street. Náměstí Republiky metro station (Line B) is about 5 minutes on foot, and the Palladium shopping centre is just around the corner. With central roads closed on race morning, you simply walk to the start line and back to your room after the finish. Your package includes 4 nights at the hotel with daily breakfast, from check-in on 29 April to check-out on 3 May 2027.
Arrive in Prague and make your way to INNSiDE by Meliá Prague Old Town on Soukenická Street in Prague 1. If you arrive before the hotel’s standard check-in time, you can usually leave your luggage with reception until your room is ready. Take the afternoon to settle in and recover from the journey. In the evening, an easy walk around Republic Square and the Powder Tower is a good way to loosen the legs and get your bearings in the Old Town.
After breakfast, the day is yours to explore. Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock and Charles Bridge are all within walking distance of the hotel. Old Town Square is also where you’ll start and finish on race day, so it’s worth a look. Keep the sightseeing light and save your legs for Sunday. Subject to the official Expo timings, you may also visit the race Expo today to collect your bib early.
After breakfast, head to the official Vodafone Prague Marathon Expo to collect your race bib and complete the required race formalities, if you didn’t do this on Friday. A short shake-out jog and some mobility work will help loosen the legs. The rest of the day is at leisure. We recommend staying hydrated, laying out your race kit and nutrition, having an early dinner and getting a good night’s rest.
It’s race day! After an early breakfast, walk about 12 minutes from the hotel through the Powder Tower and along Celetná Street to Old Town Square for the 08:00 start. Full Marathon and Half Marathon Relay runners start at the same time. Run through Prague’s historic streets and along the Vltava, then cross the finish line back in Old Town Square. Central roads are closed on race day, so walking back to the hotel is the quickest way to rest and recover. Spend the evening celebrating your finish in the city.
Enjoy breakfast and a relaxed morning before checking out. Depart for the airport or continue with your onward travel plans. Additional nights before or after the package dates may be arranged separately through the Explor42 team, subject to availability.
