Arrive in Vienna and make your own way from the airport or railway station to your booked accommodation—either Citadines Danube Vienna or Hotel Graf Stadion Vienna. Airport transfers are not included in the package and must be arranged independently. After arriving at your allocated hotel, complete the check-in formalities and settle into your room. Guests staying at Citadines Danube Vienna can familiarise themselves with the surrounding Danube City neighbourhood, Kagran U-Bahn station, the nearby Donau Zentrum shopping centre, supermarkets, cafés and restaurants. Guests staying at Hotel Graf Stadion Vienna can explore the surrounding Josefstadt district and locate Rathaus Underground Station and the nearby tram and bus stops. Vienna City Hall, the Austrian Parliament, Rathausplatz, the Burgtheater and the Hofburg area are within convenient walking distance. Save your hotel’s name, address and location on your phone for easy reference during the stay. If you feel comfortable after travelling, take a gentle walk around your hotel’s neighbourhood to loosen your legs and recover from the journey. Keep the activity relaxed and avoid an extended sightseeing excursion. Use the evening to hydrate, enjoy a comfortable dinner and rest. Check the latest race and expo information online, familiarise yourself with Vienna’s public-transport network and plan the following day’s journey to the Race Expo. As this is a self-guided experience, there will be no Explor42 representative or on-ground assistance at either hotel.
After breakfast, travel independently to the Vienna Sports World and Race Expo at Marx Halle, Karl-Farkas-Gasse 19, 1030 Vienna. The expo is scheduled to remain open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Plan your journey using Vienna’s public-transport network and allow sufficient time for walking, connections and possible queues at bib collection. Carry your race-registration confirmation, passport or another valid identification document, and any additional documents specified by the organiser. Participants are required to collect their own race bibs. After receiving your race pack, check that your name, race category and starting-wave information are correct. Review the timing-chip instructions and confirm the latest arrangements for bag drop, access to the start area and post-race collection. Take some time to explore the expo, but avoid spending several hours on your feet. Afterward, enjoy a relaxed, self-guided introduction to Vienna. Suggested areas include Stephansplatz, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg Palace surroundings, the Vienna State Opera and the Ringstraße. Return to your hotel at a comfortable hour. Store your bib safely, remain well hydrated and choose a familiar meal that will not disrupt your race-week routine.
Begin the day with a relaxed breakfast followed by an optional 20–30-minute shake-out run. Guests staying at Citadines Danube Vienna may choose an easy route close to the hotel or around a suitable section of the Alte Donau. Guests staying at Hotel Graf Stadion Vienna may plan a short route around Rathausplatz, the Ringstraße or a nearby park. Keep the pace comfortable and finish with gentle mobility and stretching exercises. The purpose is to loosen your legs rather than add any meaningful training load. If you have not collected your race bib, travel independently to the Vienna Sports World at Marx Halle. The expo is scheduled to remain open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Allow additional time, as the expo may be busier on the final day of bib collection. Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the race. Lay out your race clothing, shoes, bib, timing chip, watch, nutrition, hydration supplies and warm clothing for the starting area. Charge your phone and watch, review the weather forecast, and check the organiser’s latest race-day instructions. The start at Wagramer Straße/Reichsbrücke is approximately 2.5 km from Citadines Danube Vienna and approximately 6 km from Hotel Graf Stadion Vienna. Use an official journey-planning application to confirm your race-morning route, public-transport services and any marathon-related diversions. Guests at both hotels must arrange their own journey to the starting area. There will be no Explor42 race-day transfer or on-ground assistance. Decide your departure time in advance and plan to reach the start well before your assigned wave. Have an early, familiar dinner, avoid excessive walking and prepare everything you will need before going to bed.
Wake up with sufficient time for breakfast and final preparation. Confirm early-breakfast availability with your respective hotel in advance, particularly if you need to eat before the regular breakfast service. Dress according to the weather forecast and carry only the items permitted by the organiser. The marathon and half marathon start at Wagramer Straße/Reichsbrücke. Guests staying at Citadines Danube Vienna will be approximately 2.5 km from the starting area, while guests staying at Hotel Graf Stadion Vienna will be approximately 6 km away. Make your own way to the start using the route planned the previous evening. Depending on your hotel, personal preference and the organiser’s instructions, you may travel by public transport, taxi or a combination of public transport and walking. Allow additional time for possible service changes, road closures, security procedures, toilets, bag arrangements and entry into your assigned starting zone. There will be no Explor42 transfer, race-day representative or on-ground assistance at either hotel or at the start and finish areas. Participants are responsible for reaching the correct starting zone on time and following all official race instructions. The marathon is scheduled to begin in waves from 9:00 AM. During the race, manage your pace, hydration and nutrition according to your personal race plan while enjoying Vienna’s grand avenues, parks and historic landmarks. The finish is at Ringstraße/Burgtheater. After crossing the finish line, collect your medal and checked belongings, change into warm clothing and begin rehydrating. Guests staying at Hotel Graf Stadion Vienna will be conveniently located close to the finish area and may return to the hotel on foot if they feel comfortable. Guests staying at Citadines Danube Vienna, approximately 8 km from the finish, should plan to return independently by public transport or taxi. Road closures and post-race crowds may affect travel times, so allow for delays. Spend the remainder of the day resting, refuelling and celebrating your achievement independently with fellow runners or companions.
Enjoy your final breakfast at your respective hotel and complete your packing. Check the room carefully for your passport, race medal, electronic devices, chargers and other personal belongings before checking out. Guests staying at Citadines Danube Vienna may use any available time for a relaxed walk around the Danube City neighbourhood, a visit to the nearby Donau Zentrum shopping centre or some last-minute shopping and refreshments. Kagran U-Bahn station provides convenient access to central Vienna for guests with sufficient time before departure. Guests staying at Hotel Graf Stadion Vienna may choose some light, self-guided sightseeing around Rathausplatz, the Austrian Parliament, the Hofburg area, the MuseumsQuartier or Vienna’s central shopping streets. The hotel’s central location makes these areas conveniently accessible on foot or by public transport. Avoid planning an overly demanding schedule, particularly if your legs are tired after the race. Return to your hotel with sufficient time to collect any stored luggage and complete the journey to the airport or railway station. Airport and railway-station transfers are not included in the package and must be arranged independently. There will be no Explor42 representative or on-ground transfer assistance at either hotel. Check your flight or train status before leaving and allow adequate time for luggage, public-transport connections, traffic and any service changes. Depart Vienna carrying your hard-earned finisher’s medal and memories of an unforgettable race through Austria’s capital.
